An important reason for choosing to live in the Grange is that we appreciate the special character of this area with its Victorian villas set in leafy gardens. Because of changes in the way we live, owners will need to make alterations to their homes from time to time. These usually require planning permission from the Council, especially if they affect listed buildings or a conservation area. Even minor changes, if they are repeated several times nearby could threaten the special character of the Grange.

We scan regularly all the planning applications for this area and consider each one to decide whether it might affect the area adversely. We make the applications available for you to view at http://gaedin.co.uk/wp/planning-2

From time to time there is an application which involves significant changes to the external aspect of a Grange villa. In these circumstances, we believe it is important to draw this to your attention, particularly where we question whether or not it is in character with the Grange Conservation area. There is only a limited time in which we can make representation to the Council. We cannot wait for the publication of the next newsletter so we propose to communicate with you using this forum.

In addition if you come across any application that concerns you, please get in touch with us and write to the Council. We are keen to represent accurately the views of local residents so please give us your opinion either here or by email to planning@grangeassociation.com .
