My snowdrops are starting to come out now as well as a few crocuses and an early azalea so it’s time to get the gardening year started.
The plan is to have an event of some kind most months and an occasional talk or meeting at each other’s houses – and gardens. In addition, I am organising the annual garden visit by coach, which will take place on Tuesday June 27th. I will provide more details about that later in the year.
This month there are lots of snowdrop walks and events on offer. You can see details on Visit Scotland’s site or google Scottish Snowdrop Festival 2017. Locally, I’ve been advised that there is a snowdrop walk at Newington Cemetery on Sunday 26th February between 1 and 3.30pm.
Some of us are off to the Botanic Gardens to see their snowdrop display on a guided walk on Friday 24th February. Please let me know if you want to come. The cost is £6. We will gather inside the John Hope Gateway just before 11am.
If you are a potato grower, I hear that the Bridgend Growing Community are having their annual potato day on Sunday 26th February from 11am (http://bridgendgrowingcommunities.org.uk). I gather they make it into a bit of a festival and it sounds well worth a visit.
There will be more dates for your diary to come including, possibly, a plant sale at the library. I will keep you posted.
