Normal topicRemoval of railings in Lovers Loan

I noticed that the railings have been removed from the ends of Lovers Loan between Hatton Place and Grange Road. If this is permanent, it is a bad move. The railings served a useful purpose, in that they forced cyclists to slow down when emerging from the loan, thus reducing conflict with pedestrians and with vehicles in the road. They also prevented inappropriate vehicles from entering the loan (as things stand, there is nothing stopping a car driving along it).

Does anyone know why this happened, and it if is permanent?

Apart from the removal of the railings, the recent work in Lovers Loan is a big improvement, especially the resurfacing and the improved layout of the footway at the entrance to the cemetery.

There is a separate thread here showing the plans for the new crossings of Grange Road and the associated upgrading of Lover's Loan. It includes this plan for the new barriers in Lover's Loan at Hatton Place and this plan for the new barriers at Grange Road. They show "improved barrier to allow wheelchair access" and we would expect those to be installed shortly.
