Hello. I live in the Grange conservation area and I'm considering having solar photovoltaic panels installed on the flat, felted section of the roof of my terraced house. Any recommendations about suppliers, planning permission etc? Many thanks...

Planning permission is required in the conservation area for solar panels. If the building is listed, you will also need Listed Building Consent.

There is lots of information available through the Grange Association's Planning Guidance. For example, see page 20 of the Householder Guidance ("on listed buildings and/
or within conservation areas, solar panels will not normally be permitted on any conspicuous elevations".) In practice, that means that the panels must not be visible from the street.
