Normal topic Local wood burning at home health concerns

Since moving to the Grange I noticed, specially in cold winter days, a strong smell of wood burning. The 'acidic' smoke, which unfortunately gives a burning sensation inside the nostrils, is not healthy to inhale.

We live, supposedly, in a smoke-free area and therefore only certain stoves and fuel is allowed; however, I do wonder if all fuel used is in line with law requirements - even then I strongly believe we should try to safeguard our health by using other less-polluting (and more healthy!) methods to keep warm in our homes!

“Due to the small size of [particulate pollution] some of these toxins may enter the bloodstream and be transported around the body, lodging in the heart, brain and other organs. Therefore, exposure to PM can result in serious impacts to health.”

The Guardian has just released a very good article regarding this, which I find very relevant for us all: https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2021/feb/16/home-wood-burning-biggest-cause-particle-pollution-fires?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
