This is an application to erect an orangery on the front aspect of this listed building. GA considers this would detract from the house and has sent an objection to the Council which is copied here for information:

"I write on behalf of the Grange Association which is the amenity association for the Grange Conservation Area and has 370 members.
We wish to object to both applications for this dwelling. The house already has an extension to the North-west and the turreted section ties the newer part effectively onto the original house while keeping the extension subservient. The whole building is listed. The new southward extension would obscure this relationship. Its design seems completely unrelated to the existing building and is not of high quality.
The CEC householder guidance states that extensions should not adversely affect the character of the original villa and that the design of them should relate to the original building. It also says conservatories (which this in effect is) are not normally allowed on principal or other main frontages. The scheme seems to fail all these planning tests. The LBC guidance states that an extension should not affect the overall architectural composition. We feel the proposal would have a significant adverse effect on the architectural composition of this building.
For these reasons, we request that this application be refused."
