There is a planning application for the Earl Grange café at 2 Fountainhall Road EH9 2NN, on the corner with Ratcliffe Terrace. This is to regularise the current arrangements for the sale and serving of food and drink. The application is to change from "Class 1" to "Class 3 with cold food restriction". Details can be viewed through the Council's planning portal with reference 20/02565/FUL.

The property was last used as a chemist shop following an application granted back in 1998 to change the use of the premises from an office to a chemist shop. Since that time there has been no application to change the use of the premises.

The current application now seeks permission to change the use to "Class 3", allowing the serving and sale of food and drink, with a floor space of 32 sq. m for internal seating. As there will be no hot food preparation on site, there will be no requirement for ventilation ducting.

A noise impact assessment has been included with the application, with reference to the effect on neighbours including those above the property.

The property is not a listed building and is not in a Conservation Area. The closing date for comments by members of the public is 30 September 2020.
