Normal topic8 Chalmers Crescent EH9 1TR - Signage for care home

There is an application for new signage at the care home at 8 Chalmers Crescent. The application is clear and includes this helpful photo-montage of the proposed arrangement.

However, the Council's planning department was late uploading this application to its portal and so has already missed the stated deadline for public comments - 28 June 2019. The Grange Association has therefore sent this e-mail to the planning team requesting an extension to the period for public comments.

Thank you to those members who have pointed out to me that the sign is already in place. The 'photo montage' is actually a photo of what is there now. The most recent Google streetview is from June 2018 and shows no sign, so it was put in place in the last 12 months. Can any resident please post below if you know when the sign was erected?

There was permission granted in 2009 for a temporary sign for three months, to advertise the reopening of the care home after its refurbishment. There was also an enforcement request initiated by a resident unhappy with the sign. There has been no permission granted since then for a sign.

Permission for the signage was granted on 2 August 2019. The Handling Report is available on the Council's Planning portal at 19/02137/ADV and includes:

"The proposal is for a non illuminated pole mounted panel. The advertisement is to be located behind a stone wall and hedging. The property is located in a well established residential area, where advertisements are not a common feature. The position of the panel sign, between existing mature trees, would minimise its appearance on the street scene. The means of illumination and materials are appropriate to the character and appearance of this building."

Consent is granted for a period of five years from 2 August 2019.
