A planning application has been submitted to build a single-storey extension to the rear and side of this semi-detached property, demolishing the garage, and to create a large dormer window in the rear roof space. The current front elevation would be replaced with this elevation. The rear elevation, with the dormer, is shown in this drawing.

We have submitted this objection, challenging the materials, the size of the dormer, and the extension's reach to the very front of the building line.

The proposals were modified on 12 March to:

  • change the material for the new front elevation of the extension to be dressed stone (to match the stonework of the house), rather than Petersen bricks;
  • change the material of the new side gate from oak to steel;
  • reduce the size of the rear dormer window; and
  • add a new velux window to the front of the new second floor bedroom

The revised elevations would therefore look like this from the front and from the rear.

The application is now showing as "Awaiting decision" which normally implies that the assessment is complete and a decision is imminent.

The proposals were revised further during May 2019 to remove the proposed Study / Guest Bedroom from the extension towards the front, thus allowing the extension to be set back from the front elevation. The revised proposals were approved on 23 May 2019.
