This is always a popular thread, but you ought to have received a letter from CEC about now, giving details of "Festive" Waste and Recycling collections.

(Can't see much "festive" about bin collecting but I guess we know what they mean)

If and only if your bins go out on either Tuesday (25th - Christmas Day, 1st Jan - New Years Day), then you must put them out the Saturday before (Sat 22nd December, Sat 29th December) and that's the tricky bit … the Saturday before the usual Tuesday!.

We can guess from this that, say, a blue box due out on 25/12 would be emptied if put out for the 22nd, but not emptied if put out for the 29th ?

Christmas tree collection details are here.

Note that if your tree is over six feet tall, it must be cut in half first. It's always intrigued me, how that applies to a 13' tree.

You’ll recall the complications re “festive” waste collection.

If your day is normally Tuesday (i.e. Christmas Day) then put out your bins tonight – for collection tomorrow (Saturday).

Interesting - on the streets this morning … only maybe 20% of households have bins out ?

Still work to do, getting the message across.

From the Council today:

“If your bin has not been collected please continue to leave it at the kerbside. Any outstanding bins are due to be collected over the coming days and we are working hard to get our services back to normal. Apologies for any inconvenience caused: bit.ly/1M6kQXW “
